It's been quite a while since A. R. Rehman's last album which Rang De Basanti. This time he is back with the Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starrer, Guru. Other cast of the film include Madhavan, Vidya Balan, Mallika Sherawat, Arya Babbar and Mithun Chakrabarty. Guru is directed by Mani Rathnam who has teamed up with Rehman in all his 4 movies so far. I have personally listened to only the first couple of songs so far and I like them. I specially like Barso Re. Bollywood going Hollywood style again…. Hollywood studios have their several films release on Wednesday, so that they can have a 5-day bountiful weekend. Film maker Nikhil Advani has thought of following the same trend for his film SALAAM-E-ISHQ, which was slated for release on Friday, 26th January 2007. Advani has decided to re-schedule the release date of his film by bringing it two days earlier i.e., on Wednesday, 24th January 2007. Except for India and Dubai, the film will release on Friday in other international markets – U.S., U.K and South East Asia. According to Nikhil, “Why not capitalize on a 5-day weekend?” Nikhil smiles, “In any case, 26th January is a national holiday [Republic Day] and if we bring the film on Wednesday, you can be assured of a whopping first weekend business.” Meanwhile, on 2nd December the music of SALAAM-E-ISHQ will hit music stores. Umrao Jaan is claimed to be based on a 1904 novel by Mirza Hadi Ruswa titled Umrao Jaan Ada (according to Bollywood Trivia), but it was generally thought to be a remake of the 1989 film with the same title starring Rekha. The new Umrao Jaan stars Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Suniel Shetty, Puru Rajkumar and Divya Dutta. It is J.P. Dutta. The music of Umrao Jaan is by Anu Malik. Even though I'm not very fond of this genre of music (don't really know what it is called), I think Mr. Malik has done a pretty good job here. However, the music of the Rekha starrer Umrao Jaan which I for some reason have watched, is much better. I loved the film and the music alike. Rekha was absolutely wonerful. I'm really anxious to see how successfully Aish is going to play the role that was superbly done by Rekha. Here it is boys and girls, Dhoom 2 is up! One of the most anticipated movies of the year is this film starring Abhishek Bachchan, Hritik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Rimi Sen, Bipasha Basu and Uday Chopra. It is directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. The music director is, as I've mentioned before, Prittam. I haven't listened to 'em yet, as I was hurrying to post it here first. Tell what you guys think about it. BAABUL ( 2006 ) Set for release this December, Baabul is a movie which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Salman Khan, Rani Mukherjee, John Abraham and Om Puri. It's a film by Ravi Chopra. The music of Baabul is the creation of Aadesh Shrivastava. Some songs are pretty cool, my personal favorite is 'Come On Come On'. Enjoy!
